Brad Parker is an investigative government and military journalist who was twisted to hateful vengeance from an unspeakable blow in his life. His wife, Farrah, was an undercover operative, codenamed "Valkyrie", assigned to the clandestine missions of the Dreamworld ghost base. Michael Reed, during his time as commander of the base's operations, ordered an enemy drone strike in the Middle East; however, Farrah was still inside the building. Against better judgment, Reed ordered the strike to go ahead, killing numerous people inside the building, including Farrah. Parker was devastated and swore revenge on Reed, who turned to politics and rose to the level of being secretary.

Parker stole a deadly military toxin, framing and killing Jack Bronson, a veteran who was one of his closest colleagues and resources, with the very substance. Richard Castle himself was exposed to the poisonous weapon, which could only be staved off by buffers, but required an antidote. The FBI, Kate Beckett included, deduced Reed was the target, so many agents went to stop his rally. Parker poisoned Reed's wife Mary Elizabeth during an "interview" in the secretary's mansion, but Reed was the one who got his life destroyed. Parker fled and tried to escape with Beckett's gun, but Agent Rachel McCord arrested him. With minutes to spare, the antidote was administered, and Castle and Mary Elizabeth were successfully cured and reunited with their families.
