Detective Inspector Colin Hunt is an officer of the British Metropolitan Police Service, commonly known as Scotland Yard.
He was from a working-class family, growing up in London's East End. He was admitted to Eton College on a scholarship where he minored in blending in before eventually became a policeman. His first partner was a man named Terrance, who had a daughter, Naomi. After Terrance died, Hunt promised his family to take care of the young woman.
Years later, he was at a seminar in Washington, D.C. when Naomi called him, asking for help. He took the first flight to New York, but by the time he arrived at the motel Naomi was hiding at, she had been murdered. He left the scene, determined to find her killer. Soon after, he was identified and found by Kate Beckett and Richard Castle in his hotel room. After he explained his background, Captain Gates agreed to let him assist on the case.
They soon discover that Naomi was after Nigel Wyndham, the Deputy General at the British Consulate, whom they eventually revealed to be involved in illegal weapons trafficking, using his diplomatic connections.
After the case is closed, Hunt asks Beckett out before having to return to London to face the consequences for his illegal actions. She at first turns him down, but later calls him to arrange a date.[1]
