Kill the Messenger is the eighth episode of the second season of Castle.
Summary[]
The investigation into the death of Caleb Shimansky, a bike messenger, takes a personal turn for Beckett and her colleagues when they discover that the victim was carrying evidence that could exonerate Brady Thompson, a man jailed years before by Captain Roy Montgomery for the murder of Olivia Debiasse. Trivia[]
- This episode appears to heavily derive cues and details from the suspicions regarding the death of Marilyn Monroe and the murder of Mary Pinchot Meyer, in relation to their reported affairs with John F. Kennedy.
- Martha signing up for social network site she keeps calling 'MyFace', which results in her reconnecting with her old high school sweetheart Chet Palaburn. The website Alexis is signing her up for is obviously "Myspace", since Castle and Alexis tried to correct her.
- When Jeff Dilahunt asked if Castle and Beckett are together, Castle says, "Not yet", but Beckett says, "Absolutely not". This was not the first time they had both been asked that question and answered the exact same way. Despite Beckett's avid denials every time they are asked that question, she continued to deny it was going to happen up until the penultimate episode "Always" at the end of Season 4, when they did end up becoming romantically involved and get together.
- When Castle is pointing to the hidden drawer in the casket lid, his pointing hand noticeably changes from right to left and back to right between shots.
