Michael Grant was the legal counsel for Rebecca Dalton in "Almost Famous".
As Mrs. Dalton's attorney, Michael enjoyed Power of Attorney in regard to her business affairs, and it was this that led to the death of Derek Brookner, and Grant's own arrest for said murder.
Grant abused his position and hired Derek, who was a stripper and struggling actor, to play the role of an affluent, successful businessman in a scam Grant set up by drawing on Rebecca's accounts. However when Derek misappropriated funds for his own use, Grant realized he could not go to the police or Rebecca, and so resolved the matter by shooting Derek instead.
Although Castle and Beckett traced the money for the scam back to Rebecca's accounts, they realized that Grant was the one responsible for withdrawing the money; Rebecca had been at Paris Fashion Week when some of the withdrawals were made, with Beckett knowing that no former model would have missed such an event.
