The fifth season of Castle premiered on September 24, 2012 on the network ABC in the United States. Twenty two episodes were originally ordered, with an additional episode added in October 2012 bringing the total to 23. In February 2013, ABC ordered another episode bringing the total to 24 episodes[1]
